LEARN ABOUT YOUR DRYER INSTALLATION
Electric Dryers. Electric dryers are grounded
to neutral through it grounding strap. If the dryer is installed
in a mobile home or if local codes do not permit grounding through
the neutral, remove grounding strap from dryer. Ground the dryer
frame externally by connecting one end of a copper wire under the
ground screw and the other end to a known ground such as a cold
water pipe.
Gas Dryers. Be sure to install dryer with sufficient
clearance for servicing. Note: Use a pipe joint compound resistant
to actions of low pressure gas. Gas dryers installed in mobile homes
must be exhausted to the outdoors, and must be permanently attached
to the floor. Dryer installations kits for a mobile home installation
are available from your dealer or the manufacturer.
All Models
Outdoor exhaust. The dryer can be exhausted
outdoors through the back, left, right, or bottom panel. Exhaust
dryer kits are available as optional equipment at extra cost. The
exhaust pipe must be four inches in diameter. Rigid exhaust pipe
is recommended. Maximum length 4)1 exhaust is 14 feet with two elbows.
Deduct two feet in length for each additional elbow. Outer end of
exhaust pipe must have a hood with hinged damper to prevent back-draft
when dryer is not in operation. The weather hood should be at least
12 inches above the ground.
Indoor exhaust. Use an indoor dryer exhaust only
if exhausting outdoors is impractical. The room must be well ventilated.
Be sure to use a lint bag or Nylon stocking over the end of the
exhaust dryer pipe to collect lint.
Leveling dryer. To level dryer proceed as follows:
Loosen locknuts; adjust legs to level. Dryer; tighten locknuts.
Dryer must not rock.
